USD to DKK in August 2026: high, low, average
Updated September 26, 2026
The dollar averaged 6.4484 Danish kroner in August 2026, based on 21 ECB-based cross rates. It was cheaper than in July, when the average was 6.5472, a fall of 1.51%. The high of the month was 6.4919 on August 4, the low 6.3901 on August 21, and the dollar closed at 6.4463.
Why USD/DKK follows the euro
The Danish krone is held very close to the euro through the ERM II arrangement. In August 2026 the euro moved within 0.02% against the krone for the whole month. That means USD/DKK is, in effect, the euro-dollar rate seen from Copenhagen. When the dollar weakens against the euro, it weakens against the krone by almost exactly the same amount.
For Danish businesses this has a practical consequence: the currency risk that matters is the dollar, and the euro barely moves. A Danish company that watches EUR/USD already knows where its dollar exposure is heading.
The path of August
First two weeks: a band. The dollar moved between 6.4698 and 6.4919 until August 13. Daily moves mostly stayed below 0.2%, apart from a drop of 0.44% on the first day and 0.34% on August 5.
Mid-month: the dollar weakens. From August 14 the dollar lost ground on most days. The steepest fall, 0.65%, came on August 20 and took the rate to 6.4, and the next day it reached the low of 6.3901.
Last week: a rebound. The dollar recovered in small steps and ended with its largest daily gain of the month, 0.41%, on August 31.
Up and down days were almost even, 11 against 10.

What Danish readers can take from this
Importers paying in dollars. Shipping, energy and many commodities are priced in dollars. The last ten days of August, especially August 20 and 21, gave the cheapest dollars.
Exporters earning dollars. Danish exporters of medicines, wind turbines and food products earn a large share of revenue in dollars. The early days of the month, around August 4, gave the most kroner per dollar.
Holidaymakers. A trip to the United States cost a little less in August than in July. At the monthly average one krone bought 0.15508 dollars.
A quick test for your bank statement
Take a dollar payment from August, divide the kroner charged by the dollars paid, and compare the result with the fixing for that day in the table. If your figure is higher than the fixing, the difference is the margin your bank or card provider charged. On card payments abroad that margin is often larger than the whole monthly range of 1.59%.
Where the numbers come from
The ECB publishes the krone and the dollar against the euro. USD/DKK is the ratio of the two fixings for each business day. Danmarks Nationalbank publishes its own daily rates, which Danish banks and accountants often use.
