A cheaper dollar than in July
The monthly average fell 1.7% compared with July, when the dollar averaged 3.7819 zloty. Polish companies paying for US software licences, cloud services or equipment in dollars had a lighter bill in August than a month earlier.
The year-on-year view is different. In August 2025 the average was 3.6638, so this August the dollar was 1.46% more expensive. The month was better than July and still worse than last summer.
Who uses this pair
Polish IT contractors with US clients. Many invoice in dollars and pay costs in zloty. For them a higher USD/PLN rate is better. At the monthly average each zloty was worth 0.26901 dollars, and each dollar brought 3.7174 zloty.
Importers. Electronics, fuel and some raw materials are priced in dollars. A dip like the one on August 26 is a chance to buy dollars more cheaply, though nobody can time it reliably.
Households with dollar savings. The value of those savings in zloty moved within the 1.59% range of the month. That matters more for accounting than for daily life.
Where the rate comes from
The ECB does not publish a direct USD/PLN rate. The figures here are cross rates calculated from the euro fixings of both currencies on the same day. The National Bank of Poland publishes its own table, which Polish tax rules often require for bookkeeping. The two sources move together and can differ in the last decimals because they are set at different times.
