EUR to PLN in 2025: the year in numbers

The euro averaged 4.2397 Polish zloty in 2025, based on 255 ECB reference rates. That was 1.54% below the 2024 average of 4.3058, so the zloty was slightly stronger over the year. The euro began 2025 at 4.2753 and ended it at 4.221, a fall of 1.27%.
A lively spring and a very calm second half
February: the zloty's best month. The euro fell to 4.1308 on February 27, the low of the year, and the February average of 4.1722 was the lowest monthly figure. March stayed low, at 4.182.
April: the sharp reversal. The euro jumped back in April. The monthly average rose to 4.2652, and on April 9 the euro reached the high of the year, 4.2953. April's range, from 4.1775 to 4.2953, was the widest of any month.
May to December: a narrow band. For the rest of the year, monthly averages stayed between 4.2239 and 4.2658. From July to December each month's range was small, and September was the calmest, with fixings between 4.2495 and 4.2705.

What the table says
The second half drifted gently lower. From the June average of 4.2658, the monthly figures eased almost every month to 4.2239 in December. The zloty gained slowly, without sudden moves.
Spring made the year. Most of the annual range happened between February and April. Anyone who converted euros into zloty in April got the best rates of the year, while those buying euros did best in late February.
Year-end close. The last fixing of 4.221 was below the yearly average, which matters for companies revaluing euro balances at year-end.
What it meant in Poland
Exporters. Polish manufacturers sell most of their exports to the euro area. A slightly stronger zloty trimmed their revenue in zloty compared with 2024. The spring spike in April was a good window for converting euro receipts.
Importers and consumers. Imported cars, machinery and holidays in the euro area were a little cheaper in zloty than in 2024.
Borrowers. Households and firms with loans in euros saw their instalments in zloty ease slightly over the year.
Workers abroad. Poles earning euros in Germany, the Netherlands or Ireland and sending money home received slightly fewer zloty per euro than in 2024.
Planning 2026 from these numbers
A calm second half can make a budget rate feel safe. The spring of 2025 is the counterweight: within two months the euro moved from the low of the year to the high. A budget that allows for a swing of that size is more robust than one built on the narrow band of the autumn.
Using 2025 figures in accounts
Polish tax rules usually require the average rate of the National Bank of Poland from the working day before the transaction. The ECB figures here are a benchmark and a useful cross-check. For internal reporting, the yearly average of 4.2397 and the year-end rate of 4.221 are practical reference points.
